My dye diary

A few months back I attended a 4 week course in London every Tuesday to cover all sorts of natural dyeing. I hadn't been to a class like this since university I don't think and it was so great to be in a class room and learning again.

There was about 12 of us and every week we would pair off and create 1 or 2 dye baths each. Making sure we recorded every step so then the rest of the class would be able to possibly recreate the dye back home. We dyed various strips of fabric, this would show how the dye would react with each fabric. The results were mesmirising. Every time we pulled a strip out of the bath everyone would just gasp. It was great!

I kept a record of each weeks findings and I am so in love with this 'dye diary'. I have still yet to stick a few bits in but once its done it'll be such a great record for me. You see some of my results here.

Since the class I have been experimenting with different dyes and dyeing my own wool which I have been using in some of my own woven work. More on that soon.
